2014 Gibson Les Paul Double Cut 120th Anniversary in Nanaimo, British Columbia

$2,200

As part of Gibson USAs 120th Anniversary celebrations, the Les Paul Classic Double Cutaway brings together the timeless elegance of the Les Paul Standard in a contemporary package offering optimum playability and tone. The DC rendition of the Les Paul has long been popular for its extended upper-fret access and contemporary styling; now all that comes together with a pair of Gibsons most popular pickups, streamlined controls for on-the-fly maneuverability, and a lusciously figured Grade-AAA maple top beneath a high-gloss Trans Red nitrocellulose finish. The result is a guitar that retains many great classic elements of its predecessors, while offering the enhanced performance that todays hardworking guitarist demands.

Like all legendary Les Pauls, the Les Paul Classic Double Cutaway begins with a foundation formed of a mahogany body with carved maple top. Rather than the original single-cutaway design, however, this model sports a double cutaway body for extended upper fret access, with traditional weight relief to further enhance playing comfort. The glued-in Grade-A mahogany neck is carved to a fast, slim profile measuring .800 at the 1st fret and .875 at the 12th. The bound Grade-A rosewood fingerboard touches upon tradition with its trapezoid inlays, and joins in the 2014 celebrations with a 120th Anniversary inlay at the 12th fret. A Burst Bucker Rhythm Pro in the neck position and Burst Bucker Lead Pro in the bridge offer unparalleled PAF-style tone, while master volume and tone controls and a three-way switch make it easy to dial in changes mid-riff. Anchor it all down with quality Grover tuners, a Tune-o-matic bridge, and stopbar tailpiece, and protect it in a Historic Brown Gibson hardshell case
