Now, here's the issue:
This car has Very High Mileage. ENGINE NEEDS MAJOR REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT. It has been making a ticking/rattling noise since last fall. Took it to mechanic and was told a proper diagnosis would require removing and inspecting the engine, which would cost $500. So I decided to just keep driving it, since nothing else was wrong. Just recently the engine light came on, and it has started running rough, smelling hot, and seems to have less power. I don't know much about these things, so I am turning over my beloved Subie to someone who knows how to fix her and return her to her former glory, or pronounce her dead and turn her into a gracious organ donor.
