Euro 1988 Mercedes 300CE with only 78,000km (48,000mi) in original showroom condition. Collector owned, registered and maintained. First year of the W124C series. The body is unmarked and laser straight with original black pearl paint and the interior is finished in pristine anthracite black leather. The window glass, headliner, etc. are in perfect condition as are all mechanical features. The car has been garaged all its life, driven in summer only in the Pacific Northwest (California North) and, therefore, is free from corrosion or rust of any kind. Mechanically and operationally, the car drives as new and is ready for the autobahn.
MECHANICAL
The car is powered by a 3.0L inline six cylinder electronic fuel injected engine rated at 187 hp mated to a 4-speed automatic dual mode transmission for fast acceleration and 4-wheel ABS disc brakes to quickly and safely bring it to a stop. Night driving is enhanced by European HID Xenon headlights and side markers for parking safety on the street in the dark. Driver and passenger comfort is assisted by 6-way heated power seats and headrests, power windows, 3-way powered sunroof, 6-speaker stereo, auto antenna, updated automatic climate control, central door locking system, headlight washer/wipers and seat belt presenters.
CONDITION
The car has been carefully maintained and is presented with original black pearl metallic paint (199) and anthracite black leather interior (271). The paint has no marks or scratches and the leather interior is likewise pristine without any imperfections.
The Hagerty Classic Car Valuation website is a good measure of worth for older cars and this car would be judged between a #1 and #2 on this scale.

The car has just completed a synthetic oil change and passed its annual mechanical inspection with no issues.
PRODUCTION
The W124 series was the last of the “hand-built” era at Mercedes when engineers were in charge and quality and safety were the primary objective regardless of cost. Only a limited number of coupes were produced worldwide between 1988 and 1995 and each cost more than the most expensive Corvettes of that time.
The so-called “Goldilocks“ era of Mercedes production up until 1995 is today acknowledged as the period of the “ultimate modern collectible” and will always demand premium price. The W124C was designed and built during the height of German Engineering and was made for autobahn cruising, effortlessly exceeding speed limits quietly and comfortably. When built, the Mercedes coupe had one of the most efficient wind resistant ratios of any production automobile because of the aerodynamic body shape and underbody cladding. The car is solid and glued to the highway at high speed and extremely agile on twisty mountain roads.
HISTORY
The car has been a part of my collection for 14 years and I have decided to pass it on to someone who will continue to maintain the current level of care and stewardship.
The car is located in Nanaimo, British Columbia which is a short distance from Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island and a only scenic ferry ride from Seattle. Cars are easily imported into the USA from Canada and vehicles over 25 years old are grandfathered in terms of US pollution control standards. Therefore, nothing requires modification or changes to the car as it is currently 35 years old.
