This is a Navigation Watch used by the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII. Commonly known as a "deck watch", it was taken on deck along with a sextant for navigation readings as the ships chronometer was not allowed to be moved. According to PocketWatchDatabase.com, this unit was manufactured in 1942 by the Hamilton Watch Co. in Lancaster, Pennsylvania for the Royal Canadian Navy. Total production was 2494 units. The insulated wooden case is in good condition and provides thermal and shock protection. The Canadian Navy markings on the case are C.H.S. 3 and stand for "Canadian Hydrographic Service" which was the branch of the Navy responsible for timepieces. The Broad Arrow within a "C" on the back of the watch is the Canadian military property mark. The case is 80% silver. This watch keeps perfect time and the only real issue with it are the scratches on the back.
