V6 Equinox LT, AWD, sunroof, heated seats, tow pkg
If you want a Canadian built SUV that can EASILY tow 3500 lbs (300 hp, V6) AND gets decent mileage, consider the Equinox.
The Equinox is a compact SUV but it has a larger interior size being one of the largest compact SUV's. It also has the proven (reliability), high output 3.6L V6—300 hp. This is the same engine that is in the V6 Camaro so the SUV has plenty of get up and go. No expensive and complicated turbo systems that can fail once warranty is gone. A V6 will also last a lot longer than a turbo or 4 cylinder as it doesn't have to work as hard (lower rpm).
Am going on memory but I'm pretty sure this LT is the "true north" Canadian edition. It has many features including:
-2-way power sunroof;
-driver's power seat
-front heated seats
-bluetooth/On-Star ( I think it has nav but I've always used iMap or Google Map w/ my iPhone).
-back-up camera (great quality!)
-sensors in the front and rear that alerts you if you're going to hit anything
-side warning sensors
-auto-dimming rear view mirror
-cruise control
-power mirrors
-12 volt plugs in front console (w/ USB) and also one in the rear hatch area
-comes with MUD/SNOW tires with ok tread
I also had a tow hitch installed (4- and also 7-pin e-brake system w/ the internal controls) and roof racks (I think they are 250 to 300 lbs). I've only towed a light tent trailer and also a small utility trailer.
Litres Per 100 km (based upon Canadian 4.55 litres per gallon)
4.7 L/100 km OR 60 mpg (best mpg for 40 km)
6.7 L/100 km OR 42.2 mpg (best mpg for 80 km)
9.3 L/100 OR 30.4 mpg (best mpg for 725 km)
I am the only owner and have all receipts showing any repairs/maintenance.
