Here is a very special sailboat...Great Blue Heron is for sale. She is a Ranger 29 designed by one of the best: Gary Mull. A true dual-purpose boat that is safe and comfortable to cruise, and can also be raced. She has a solid fiberglass hull with encapsulated lead keel (no keelbolts to worry about). In 2006/2007 she went through a year-long comprehensive top-bottom refit/upgrade by a fussy Engineer. A long list of improvements...Highlights: all new portlights (including 3 opening Bomars), everything stripped and re-bedded and cabin top/decks re-done, epoxy barrier-coat, hull and decks repainted with Endura 2 part LP. She looks great and gets whistles everywhere! Nicely equipped for cruising with an Origo stove (safe), large ice box, galley sink, fold-down split table, dickensen heater, enclosed head with new toilet/holding tank and vanity sink, Harken roller-furling headsails, stern ladder, dodger & zip-on bimini for complete cockpit cover, upholstery in very good shape (5 berths), new lifelines, tillerpilot, etc. Mechanicals: re-powered with a smooth and economical 3 cylinder Universal M3-20 diesel with a Martec folding prop giving a 6+ knot cruise speed. On the racing side she is well setup with good sails (2 mains, 4 headsails, asymmetrical spinnaker), all new standing rigging, hydraulic backstay adjuster, boomkicker, oversized Lewmar 40 self-tailing primary winches, plus 2 cabin-top winches, D handle tiller extension, B&G Network Quad (depth/speed/temp/timer). Includes brand new DSC VHF radio. Great Blue Heron has her name on every NYC trophy, and other local races as well.
