When reading the reviews on this device, a lot of it is misinformation by people who don't understand how it works. Just so we are all clear on how this device works. After you follow the Shaw instructions on how to hook this up to your PVR, it will expand your hard drive from 500 G to 1500 G. It WILL NOT CANCEL out the drive and your movies or shows that you have previously recorded. If you use this on your computer via eSata to usb cable, it will simply act as a external hard drive.
